Have you gotten down with Jesus? I have. And it has changed who I am. I have sunk to the depths of doubt and crawled my way back up again, wrestling with God over who He is and who He wants me to be. He took me as I was, but promised He’d never leave me that way. I am an imperfect pilgrim, clinging to a perfect God who loves me anyway. And I want to explore with you what it means to Get Down to Truth as we stumble our way Home. Will you join me?

What I Believe

This blog is a place where I share my faith, question what it means to be Christian and share how my old assumptions are often turned upside-down. Because of this, I want to make my core beliefs clear:

I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I believe Jesus is God, the living Word, who became flesh. I believe He voluntarily atoned for my sin by dying on the cross. I believe He rose from the dead, ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father. I believe in the Holy Spirit as a divine Person, sent to indwell, guide and empower believers.

I believe that salvation is a work of God’s free grace and is not the result of human works, "being good" or taking part in religious ceremonies.

The basis of my belief is the Bible, the inspired Word of God found in the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments.

I believe that being a Christian isn’t a thing we do just on Sundays, and that church isn’t something that just happens at the altar, and that grace abounds everywhere – sometimes where we least expect it.

I have named this blog “Getting Down With Jesus” because my intent in life is to become increasingly personal, honest and real with God. Frankly, He already knows my thoughts and words anyway. My hope is that my honesty will bless others, while drawing me closer to God, who gives us this promise:

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)

Jennifer,

I agree with you.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.

God bless,

Hello Jennifer!

You wrote (right menu): “I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I believe Jesus is God, the living Word, who became flesh. I believe He voluntarily atoned for my sin by dying on the cross.”

You wrote about atonement and I want to comment on that.

(le-havdil) The same that is outlined in Tan’’kh (the Jewish Bible) about kipur – atonement – was taught by first century Ribi Yehoshua (the Messiah) from Nazareth. Read this essential teachings here: www.netzarim.co.il
