Facebook? Poetic? Let's see.
As part of High Calling Blogs' Random Acts of Poetry last week, blogger Marcus Goodyear turned someone's Twitter posts into a poem. So I looked through a month's worth of messages on my Facebook wall and saw it: poetic beauty, word-gifts from praying friends.
So here it is: a compilation of blessings left on the wall.
Prayers for a Farmer's Family
You O.K.? God brought you to mind all day.
This chorus of friends who pray, I join them.
Wish I could hug you, old friend. Or just hold
your hand. Put your hand into Abba’s hand.
He holds you. I can’t, but He will. He does.
God has a place for you, in the middle.
Friend, what can I do? Casserole coming.
Your favorite! Do you like apple pie?
Chris made the soup. Glad you liked the brownies!
Have a sled here for you, Daddy-powered.
I put books in the sack, with the veggies,
for your girls. When time is right, they may help.
On my hand, I wrote his name; won’t forget
To pray.
I’m praying.
We’re praying.
I prayed.
Still praying.
Prayed through the night as I worked my nightshift
Prayed for you this morning, verse came to mind:
“My power is made perfect in weakness.”
Prayed for you when God woke me (3 a.m.)
Prayers, vibes, heart songs for peace, strength all the time
I honk my horn when I drive by; don’t forget
We’re praying.
Still praying.

This is just so amazing, both to know that so many are out there praying with and for you, and to know that there is poetry even in the smallest of places.
Great stuff, community! I spent a lot of time in other "communities" during my lifetime, but this community - brothers and sisters banded and bonded together in Christ's blood - sticks together. My prayer is that the prayers being uttered on your behalf never wane and that they just grow stronger and stronger as you John 10:10!

Family...what a blessing it is to feel the arms of these brothers and sisters in Christ reaching out, drawing you in, holding you up. Great poem, great idea!
I like the casualness of the language. Talk is the rhythm of poetry. Wall talk, all the better.

I LOVE the poem. It's so beautiful. What a lovely way for you to remember as well, this tender time of life and all the support you've received from all those wonderful prayer warriors. I also wanted to say how cool it is that you met Mr. Schaap. I am such a HUGE fan of his work. He's written some wonderful stuff. I tend to think of him as famous and when my brother in law t.a.'d for him I was always embarressing myself by my fan worship. :) He used to come to the "feeder" schools and read to us when we were kids. In fact he still does. If you ever get a chance to hear him storytell, get in on that becuase his voice and talent is amazing!!! How fun to be in the teaching realm for you. Blessings to you as you follow God into this incredible place. I'm sure your influence and talent will be a blessing to so many students.
